What will I learn?

A double degree in a Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Information Technology gives you skills to work across all areas of business with the added advantage of being able to utilise technology to improve products and business processes.

The Bachelor of Business offers a broad education across all key aspects of the business environment. In addition to studying the essential core disciplines of accounting, economics, finance, management and marketing, and allows students to focus on their interests by choosing electives from a particular Business discipline.

The Bachelor of Information Technology offers graduates key skills required for any IT professional such as: organisational areas in IT; database management; programming; information systems analysis and design; communications and networks; security; eBusiness; project management; and web-based technology.

Course Learning Outcomes

A number of the course learning outcomes in each of these degrees complement and consolidate outcomes in the partner degree. Applied across two discipline areas, the outcomes are achieved at a broader and more comprehensive level.

The outcomes, which are common and consolidated in this joint degree, ensure that on successful completion of the course students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate sound disciplinary knowledge;
  • Investigate and solve problems using discipline specific approaches
  • Work as part of a team; and
  • Investigate, solve and critically interpret practical and/or abstract problems using mathematical and/or statistical methods, including appropriate software tools.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

UOW recognizes secondary qualifications from more than 40 countries and education systems, including GCE A levels, International Baccalaureate and SAT, and can assess students who have completed the equivalent of Australian high school (Year 12) for direct entry to the first year of a Bachelor degree. English language requirements: IELTS - 6.0; TOEFL - 79, Pearson PTE - 57.

For international students

Applicants need to have achieved the required score in a qualification equivalent to the completion of 13 years of schooling in Australia.

In order to succeed in your chosen course, it is assumed you have completed relevant subjects in your senior high school studies or other relevant qualifications. This is particularly important for degrees which have a strong basis in Mathematics or Science.
