Learning Outcomes

Identify and explain the key concepts, ideas and principal actors in international security. Evaluate the major theoretical frameworks for understanding the complexities of contemporary international security challenges. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the historical and contemporary dimensions of international, internal and transnational security, especially in the Asia-Pacific region. Analyse the key challenges facing Australian security and defence policy in the 'Asian Century'. Reflect critically on the principal factors that determine the security policies of Australia and the major Asia-Pacific powers Employ communication and presentation skills (oral, written and electronic)Demonstrate teamwork and interpersonal skills Exhibit the ability to write for both academic and professional audience

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants who complete a recognised secondary/senior secondary/post-secondary/tertiary sequence of study will be assessed based on an equivalent selection rank that is calculated upon application.

Academic IELTS overall score of 6.5 with at least 6 in each component of the test; TOEFL internet based test score of 80, with a minimum of 20 in Reading and Writing and 18 in Speaking and Listening; TOEFL paper based test score of 570 with TWE score of 4.5; Cambridge CAE Advanced score of 176 overall with at least 169 in all sub skills; PTE Academic score of Overall 64, minimum score of 55 in each section.
