What will I learn?

Learning a new language boosts your employability, unlocks opportunities in a global, multilingual community, and exposes you to new perspectives. It empowers you to engage across cultures as an informed global citizen, while deepening your understanding of how knowledge and value are created in the world. With five-star ratings for overall experience and student support for languages (Good Universities Guide 2024), whatever your level of skill, you'll find courses that suit you. Highlights of studying languages and linguistics Access a range of industry internships with support from a dedicated Placement Officer, across organisations like Queensland Japan Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Dante Alighieri Society, Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, State/Catholic schools. Undertake study abroad, in-country internships or exchanges, to immerse yourself in culture, grow your professional networks, and challenge yourself academically and personally. Learn the language from native speaker teachers, highly skilled in contemporary, career-focused approaches. Our small class sizes provide individual attention, ensuring you're exposed to the cultural context of your chosen language. You'll not only learn to speak, read and write in another language, but also explore linguistics-the science and function of language. Apply your knowledge of linguistics and your chosen language in real challenges including second language learning and teaching, translation, intercultural communication, and effective use of digital technologies. Forge strong cultural and social connections that you'll draw upon at university and beyond through societies and clubs like the Griffith Languages Club - voted 'Best Cultural Club of the Year'.
