Course Description

At Murdoch University you can combine a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree with a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology).

Adding a Psychology degree to your law qualification will help you gain valuable, additional skills to use in your practice of law. The knowledge of psychology will help you develop a deeper understanding of human behaviour providing a better understanding and relationship to clients, which can aid in providing good legal counsel as well as improving negotiation, resolution and problem solving skills.

The Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) will teach the major fields in psychology, including human development perception, emotion, learning, cognition, language, neuroscience, psychological health and wellbeing and psychological disorders in order to build expertise in the social and developmental areas of psychology.

The Bachelor of Laws (LLB) will give you a solid foundation in each of the major areas of legal practice. You will have the opportunity to gain real world experience through our Work Integrated Learning program, which will allow you to work on real cases in our legal clinic, take part in our well established mooting program (where you will simulate real court room proceedings.) Plus you could even take your studies international and undertake units in Germany, Switzerland or Italy. Our Law degree is also accredited by the Ministry of Law in Singapore, the Malaysian Bar Council and the Indian Bar Council.

The combination of Law and Psychology will enhance your career opportunities, as you will have the ability to step into multiple fields and will gain valuable, additional skills to use in your future career. A combined degree in Law and Psychology and can open up doors in industries such as: legal practice, behavioural science, health sciences, clinical practice, public policy, education/training development, management, marketing and human resources among others.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Applicants must have a Completion of a minimum of 65% or better in Grade 12 English. Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Overall 6.0 with no band below 6.0; Test of English as a Foreign Language - IBT (TOEFL IBT) - 73 with no band less than 18; Test of English as a Foreign Language - Paper Based (TOEFL - Paper Based) - 534 (Test of Written English not less than 4.5); Cambridge Advanced English prior 52 with no section less than Borderline; Cambridge Advanced English after 169 overall with no band below 169; Occupational English Test (OET) - OET with a minimum of C in the four components; Pearson Test of English (PTE) 50 with no band below 50.

For international students

Applicants are required to complete secondary education (Year 12 or Australian equivalent) currently or within the last two years are eligible to apply. Entry requirements vary country by country.

English Language Requirements: Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with an overall 6.5 with no band below 6.5 or equivalent; TOEFL 79 with no band less than 21 Pearson Test of English (PTE) 58 with no band below 58.
