What will I learn?

The CQUniversity's Bachelor of Business is an innovative course that builds foundational and management skills by undertaking 16 units of business and 8 specialisation units or minor in several business areas. The course is designed for students who are planning a career in business and management in diverse organizations. The course provides you with relevant skills, knowledge and attributes to apply the skills at the workforce. Assessments in the course relate to workplace case studies and scenarios that will engage you with contemporary challenges of businesses. The flexible delivery of the course will enable you to undertake study in face-to-face and online mode. Also, the course will provide you with membership pathways to professional bodies, ensuring that upon completion of the course, you receive recognition for the skills and knowledge in your chosen profession. A work integrated learning (WIL) option and overseas exchange program is available within the course that incorporate professional work placement and overseas study experience.

Online option is also available.


You are required to complete a total of 24 units including 16 compulsory units made up of eight core and eight management units. In addition to these 16 compulsory units, you may select a second major (eight units), or two minors (four units each). Alternatively, you can study eight elective units, or a combination of a minor, electives or the CQUni Global Outbound Program.

Internships Available

Business Internship (BUSN12001) - Work placements provide students with experience in a professional environment relevant to their study discipline. Students reflect and report upon a range of factors related to the placement experience. Work readiness is enhanced as students apply the knowledge and skills acquired through study to the work environment. Students will secure and undertake an approved work placement for at least 20 hours per week for a duration of approximately 12 weeks. The placement may require relocation of accommodation to suit the employment.

Graduate Employability Skills (BUSN19024) - Preparation unit prior to work placement. The unit also provides skills and knowledge related to job search skills, resume writing, preparing for interviews, presentation skills etc.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Successful completion of the equivalent of an Australian Year 12. Completed High School Diploma and a SAT 1 composite score of 1050 (out of 1600) or above (Evidence based Reading & Writing; and Maths). English requirements: IELTS Academic - 6.0 with no individual band score of less than 5.5; TOEFL Internet-based - Overall score of 75 with no score less than 17; Pearson Test of English Academic - Overall score of 54 with no score less than 46; Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE), Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) - Overall test score of 169 (with no individual band score of less than 154).

For international students

A secondary qualification (Year 11 and 12, or equivalent).

English language proficiency

An International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic) overall band score of at least 6.0 overall with a minimum 5.5 in each subset; or

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - Requires 550 or better overall and minimum TWE score of 4.5 (Paper Based Test), or 75 or better overall and no score less than 17 (Internet Based Test); or

An Occupational English Test with Grades A or B only in each of the four components; or

Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) - Score of 180 or above; or

Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English - Score of 200 or above; or

Combined Universities Language Test (CULT) - 70% with no individual component score of less than 15.
