What will I learn?

Develop operational accounting and bookkeeping skills that will be highly valued in the business world

When you complete the Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping, you’ll be able to apply for registration as a Business Activity Statement (BAS) agent, once the required work experience has been completed.

You'll learn practical skills in areas such as manual and computerised accounts receivable; accounts payable and general ledger; tax and payroll; and the preparation of BAS and other financial statements.

If you’re looking to work as a BAS agent, or want to gain a formal qualification that reflects your BAS experience, this course is for you. Experienced teachers, who are experts in the field, will guide you through the program, which involves a combination of theory and practical work, and simulated work situations. Assessment is progressive through each unit’s study period.

This is an entry level course that can be completed part time over one year or full time over six months. Previous study or work experience in the field can reduce your completion time. This course is also offered with a flexible learning option, which allows you to complete the course at home with a structured learning program designed to meet your individual needs. This nationally recognised qualification may lead to employment in roles such as assistant accountant, bookkeeper or BAS agent in a broad range of organisations.
