What will I learn?

If working in the fast-paced world of TV and video production sounds like you, then enroll in our Certificate IV in Screen and Media course. Get industry insights and the skills and knowledge you need to get ahead of the competition, and stay ahead. “Roll camera … camera rolling.”

Learn in our first-class TV studio

This course offers you a hands-on practical foundation for all stages of television and digital film production. You will learn about the process from story development through to scriptwriting, pre-production, production and post-production.

You will have the opportunity to work on both multigame TV studio-based shows. Learn by doing and work on a range of single camera productions that will be broadcast on community TV and the internet.

This is a great opportunity to collaborate with other creative, passionate students in the creation of TV shows and short films.

During the year, you will be able to create a comprehensive portfolio of work and a professional resume that will be an asset for employment when you’re finished and certainly impressive to those employing you.

Assessment Methods

Various forms of assessment may be used, including observation of students' performance and actions, direct questioning and verbal interaction, written tests and assignments, and analysis of finished video productions

Pathways to further study

Successful completion of this course will enable you to enroll in Melbourne Polytechnic’s Diploma of Screen and Media, or Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media

Career Pathways

On completion of this course you will be eligible to find employment making corporate videos, in production houses, advertising agencies, government organizations, private industry and TV broadcasting.

Entry requirements

For international students

Academic: Australian Year 11 equivalency

English: Academic IELTS 5.5 with no individual band below 5.0, Pearson PTE Academic 42 overall with no individual communicative skill below 36, or Melbourne Polytechnic recognized equivalency. TOEFL iBT: 49 overall (Writing: 18, Speaking: 16, Reading: 8, Listening: 7); Cambridge English Scale (Cambridge: First (FCE), Cambridge: Advanced (CAE), Cambridge: Proficiency (CPE)): 162 overall (individual bands: 154); Melbourne Polytechnic: ELICOS - 2+ ISLPR overall individual bands: min ISLPR 2.
