What will I learn?

This course is intended for computing science, information technology or engineering graduates with or without networking experience who wish to learn or extend their knowledge of networking and networking technologies. As students come from a variety of backgrounds, there is a degree of subject choice in the program to meet individual needs.

The Internetworking program provides practical, hands-on learning experience using resources provided by Cisco Systems. The program covers all aspects of the organisational use of networking.

Course aims

The program aims to:

  • Meet the needs of industry for computer network professionals
  • Retrain it professionals wishing to move into computer network and its relevant fields
  • Provide a practical grounding in networking and in network design, administration and management, and
  • Provide an introduction to the development of web and mobile applications.

Course structure

The course totals 24 credit points of study, made up of four subjects.

Career options include IT/network support, junior systems programmer or other positions in data communications.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

For admission into most postgraduate courses, you are required to hold a recognized bachelor's degree equivalent to an Australian bachelor's degree. Your academic performance at the bachelor's level will be considered as part of your application assessment. In some instances, you may also require relevant work experience and/or research experience. English language requirements: IELTS (Academic) - 6.5 overall, writing 6.0; TOEFL (Internet-based) - 79-93 overall, writing 21; PTE (Academic) - 58-64; CAE - 176-184; AE5/AE6 (PASS) - AE5.

For international students

Applicants must have completed a UTS recognised bachelor's degree, or an equivalent or higher qualification, or submitted other evidence of general and professional qualifications that demonstrates potential to pursue graduate studies.

It is a requirement that the bachelor's degree be in information technology or a related discipline, with no more than 25 per cent of subjects failed.

The English proficiency requirement for international students or local applicants with international qualifications is: Academic IELTS: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0; or TOEFL: paper based: 550-583 overall with TWE of 4.5, internet based: 79-93 overall with a writing score of 21; or AE5: Pass; or PTE: 58-64; or CAE: 176-184.
