What will I learn?

This course will help you meet the academic and English language requirements for your undergraduate studies at QUT in just 4 months. During this program, you will study:

advanced academic English language
literature studies
two discipline-specific units.

Everything you study in the program will help you to better understand the teaching and learning styles of Australian universities.

When you have completed this course, and met the faculty progression requirements, you will be guaranteed a place in the first year of your chosen bachelor degree.

Learn the required knowledge and skills that you need to enter the first year of most undergraduate degree courses and be better prepared to achieve academic success at QUT.

You will develop:

your written and oral academic English
digital literacy skills
an understanding the Australian learning style and what it means to be a QUT student.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

International students must full fill the equivalent of below given Australian entry qualifications. An overall aggregate of 17 from year one of the two year International Baccalaureate Diploma with a pass in five IB subjects, including at least three Higher level (HL) subjects; where a pass for HL subjects = 3 and for SL subjects = 4. Year 11 with a minimum overall average of C or Sound Achievement (SA) in five OP/Authority subjects in each semester. English Language Proficiency requirements: Sound Achievement (SA) or C grade in Authority Senior English or English for ESL Learners in both Semester 1 and Semester 2 of Queensland Year 11 in the year prior to starting at QUT. Year 11 with a minimum overall average of B or High Achievement (HA) in four OP/Authority and 1 Authority-registered subject in each semester. English Language Proficiency requirements: Sound Achievement (SA) or C grade in Authority Senior English or English for ESL Learners in both Semester 1 and Semester 2 of Queensland Year 11 in the year prior to starting at QUT. TOEFL iBT 56; Pearson PTE (Academic) 46; IELTS Academic 5.5; Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) 162.

For international students

Have completed high school Year 12 (or equivalent)

IELTS Academic score of 6.0 with Listening and Speaking score of 5,Reading and Writing score of 5.5; TOEFL iBT score of 71 with Listening score of 10,Reading and Speaking score of 14, Writing score of 18; Pearson PTE (Academic) score of 50 with Listening and Speaking score of 38, Reading and Writing score of 46; Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) score of 169 with Listening and Speaking score of 154,Reading and Writing score of 162.
