What will I learn?

Summary

In the Master of Creative Writing, you'll undertake intensive practical workshops across a range of genres, including young adult fiction, creative non-fiction, short story, novella, novel and poetry. And you'll create, workshop and develop your writing with peers and our expert teachers. Whether you're an aspiring or experienced media professional, the Master of Media and Communications will give you the skills you need to expertly respond to the challenges associated with the changing mediascape in ethical and socially engaged ways. It focuses on digital production, distribution, and audience communication and engagement strategies, as well as on online journalism and media practices. Armed with such contemporary knowledge and skills, you'll accelerate your career in fast-moving contemporary media and communications environments across the world.

Master of Creative Writing

AQF level 8 bachelor honours or graduate diploma qualification in a related field or recognised equivalent, or

Meet two of the following three criteria:

AQF level 7 bachelor's qualification in a related field or recognised equivalent

Approved work experience, professional certification or other recognised prior learning

AQF level 7 bachelor's qualification or recognised equivalent with a WAM of 65

Master of Media and Communications

AQF level 7 bachelor's qualification in a related field or recognised equivalent or

AQF level 7 bachelor's qualification or recognised equivalent, and two years relevant approved work experience, professional certification or other recognised prior learning

English language requirements

  • IELTS Academic - IELTS of 7.0 overall with minimum 6.5 in each band, or equivalent
  • TOEFL iBT - 94 (Reading - 19; Writing - 24; Listening - 20; Speaking - 20)
  • PTE Academic - 66 minimum 58 in each band, or equivalent
  • Cambridge English (C1A or C2P) - 185 minimum 176 in each band, or equivalent
  • Occupational English Test (OET) - (Reading - B; Writing - B; Listening - C+; Speaking - C+)
  • Duolingo English Test (DET) - 120 (+5-10 week ELP) minimum 120 in each band, or equivalent
