What will I learn?

Graduates of this course will possess an understanding of contemporary education issues and discourses; have high-level critical and evaluative skills; will be able to translate into practice their experiences and understandings of the program; and will have demonstrated their ability to undertake educational research projects.

Course structure

Students must complete 12 credit points in one of the following configurations:

Option 1: Dual Specialist Strand

  • 2 credit points of core units
  • 4 credit points of research units (EDX701, EDX712, EDX703, EDX704)
  • 4 credit points of electives from a single specialist strand
  • 2 credit points of electives from another specialist strand

Option 2: Research Intensive Strand

2 credit points of core units

  • 6 credit points of research units (EDX701, EDX712, EDX705 (2cp), EDX706 (2cp))
  • 4 credit points of electives from a single specialist strand

Students must also complete

  • Academic Integrity AAI018

Academic Integrity (0-credit-point compulsory unit)

Applicants must have a bachelor’s Honors (AQF8) degree in a related discipline OR Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, plus two years relevant work experience OR Graduate Certificate of Applied Artificial Intelligence (or equivalent) OR Evidence of academic capability judged to be equivalent. Other English Language Requirements accepted: IELTS: Overall 6.5, no band less than 6.0; TOEFL (PBT) score of 577 Writing 4.5; TOEFL Internet Based: 70 Writing 21; CPE: 176 no band less than 169; CAE: 176 no band less than 169; PTE score of 58 no less than 50 in each skill; OET: Overall B, with A or B in listening, speaking, writing and reading.
