What will I learn?

Summary

Networked IT systems are vital to society and underlie most of our economy. They are the backbone of the seamless online shopping and internet search functions we take for granted, and are fundamental to the telecommunications industry.

In the Master of Information Technology in Networking, you'll develop an in-depth integrated knowledge of advanced concepts in network and internetwork technologies, and learn how to apply them to solving practical problems in networked IT systems, as well as related topics such as network design and security. If you have undergraduate qualifications in IT, computing or engineering (with suitable units in computer programming), this degree will enable you to transition into the internetworking field.

Successfully complete certain units in this degree, and get a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) qualification. Broaden your knowledge and communication skills

Synthesise technical knowledge with management and policy aspects of internetworked systems, and learn to communicate your ideas. Simulate different networks to determine operational requirements

Identify weaknesses and areas of improvement – and configure, validate, implement and troubleshoot complex internetworked systems. Apply expert judgement to networking technologies

Synthesise alternative solutions, concepts and procedures, and apply acumen from organisational and innovation perspectives.

AQF level 7 bachelor's qualification in a related field or recognised equivalent, and a minimum of two years relevant approved work experience, professional certification or other recognised prior learning

English language requirements

  • IELTS Academic - IELTS of 6.5 overall with minimum 6.0 in each band, or equivalent
  • TOEFL iBT - 83 (Reading - 13; Writing - 21; Listening - 12; Speaking - 18)
