Entry requirements

For students from United States

Students must achieve a minimum 70% weighted average mark in the first 72 units of courses attempted in order to remain enrolled in the Master of Strategic Studies (Advanced).

For international students

To be admitted to the Master of Philosophy program you need to have completed an Australian Bachelor Degree with at least Upper Second Class Honours (First Class Honours is usually required) or its international equivalent, or a Master Degree with a significant research thesis component. There must also be a supervisor at ANU

You may be granted admission if you can demonstrate that you have a background equivalent to these qualifications.

Academic IELTS overall score of 6.5 with at least 6 in each component of the test; TOEFL internet based test score of 80, with a minimum of 20 in Reading and Writing and 18 in Speaking and Listening; TOEFL paper based test score of 570 with TWE score of 4.5; Cambridge CAE Advanced score of 176 overall with at least 169 in all sub skills; PTE Academic score of Overall 64, minimum score of 55 in each section.
