Combine your business diploma with Fanshawe's diploma in business management and take your leadership and management potential to the next level. With these business management courses, you will develop the necessary critical thinking and analytical skills to make any business a success. Your creativity will be nurtured as you study cutting-edge innovations in the business sector and your visions for sustainable and socially responsible business models will be put to the test in today's evolving economy. While studying in this business management program, you will explore the nuances of strategic planning, leadership principles and practices, and performance management. This program is available in a traditional in-class format with September admission.

You may apply for the opportunity to substitute two courses for the intensive community consulting program. This program will further develop your human resources consulting skills as you will work with real business clients.

Graduates of the Business Administration - Leadership and Management program are prepared to enter the business world on a management career path in large and small businesses, industry, the not-for-profit sector and government. Graduates are suited to a variety of intermediate-level positions, including management trainee, store manager, office manager, general manager, branch manager, operations manager, sales manager, production manager and plant manager. Graduates will also be well positioned to launch and manage their own small business.

Program Description

Business Administration - Leadership and Management is a three-year Ontario College Advanced Diploma program (laptop required). Students complete the two-year Business Diploma program and then proceed on to this advanced diploma program. The Business Administration - Leadership and Management curriculum builds on the hands-on skills obtained in the two-year Business diploma program by focusing on the critical skills and knowledge central to the advancement of any business professional. Students explore subject matter including strategic planning, leadership principles and practices, performance management, social responsibility, sustainability, organizational change, global business, and creativity and innovation in business.

Learning Outcomes

The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to

1. evaluate the impact of global issues on an organization's business opportunities by using an environmental scan*.

2. apply principles of corporate sustainability*, corporate social responsibility and ethics to support an organization's business initiatives.

3. assess and use current concepts/systems and technologies to support an organization's business initiatives.

4. conduct and present research to support business decision making.

5. plan, implement and evaluate projects by applying project management principles .

6. perform work in compliance with relevant statutes, regulations and business practices.

7. apply human resource practices to support management objectives and the organization's goals.

Entry requirements

For international students

Business Diploma from Fanshawe OR equivalent qualification from another institution as judged by the College OR a combination of relevant education and work experience in a related field as judged by the College. Minimum overall average of “C+” (2.5 cumulative GPA) is required.

Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to demonstrate proficiency in English by one of the following methods:

A Grade 12 College Stream or University Stream English credit from an Ontario Secondary School, or equivalent, depending on the program's Admission Requirements

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) test with a minimum score of 550 for the paper-based test (PBT), or 79 for the Internet-based test (iBT), with test results within the last two years

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test with an overall score of 6.0 with no score less than 5.5 in any of the four bands, with test results within the last two years

Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) test with an overall score of 60 with no score less than 50 in any of the four bands, with test results within the last two years

An English Language Evaluation (ELE) at Fanshawe College with a minimum score of 70% in all sections of the test, with test results within the last two years

Fanshawe College ESL4/GAP5 students: Minimum grade of 80% in ESL4/GAP5 Level 8, 75% in ESL4/GAP5 Level 9, or 70% in ESL4/GAP5 Level 10
