What will I learn?

The Associate Degree is designed to provide an education experience that prepares students for work, citizenship, and an enriched life as an educated person, and to lay a solid foundation for further study in the field of Political Science.

Note: Students planning to progress to the BA Major or Minor in Political Science should complete 9 credits of POLI courses at the 1000 level and 6 credits of POLI courses at the 2000 level. BA students should also take SOCI 2260.

Curricular Requirements

Within the framework of the Associate of Arts Degree, students must complete at least 60 credits with a minimum grade of C in each course, including the following.

  • Select 12 credits of courses in POLI at the 1100 level or higher
  • Select 3 credits of courses in POLI at the 2000 level or higher

Credential Awarded

Upon successful completion of this program, students are eligible to receive an Associate of Arts degree in Political Science.

Entry requirements

For international students

You have graduated high school (secondary school) OR completed 24+ credits of undergraduate-level credits with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.

English Proficiency Requirements

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic Test: overall band of 6.5 or higher, with a minimum 6.0 in each band, taken within the last two years from the term of admission

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): IBT 88 or higher, with no sub score less than 20, taken within the last two years from the term of admission

Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL): Score of 70 or higher with no sub score less than 60, taken within the last two years from the term of admission

Pearson Test of English (PTE): Score of 61 or higher, taken within the last two years from the term of admission

Language Proficiency Index (LPI): Level 5 with an essay score of 30 or higher, taken within the last two years from the term of admission.
