What will I learn?

Create environments that shape how we live, work, play and learn. Informed by theories of design, an understanding of building systems and the application of technology, you will develop critical design thinking skills. Through assignments, exercises and studio-based projects, apply and expand your design abilities.

Mount Royal has offered the Bachelor of Applied Interior Design degree, a Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) accredited program, for more than 15 years. To become a registered or licensed interior designer in Canada, applicants must have graduated from a CIDA accredited program. Learn more about our program accreditation.

Entry requirements

For international students

High School Applicant: must present a minimum admission average of 65%, calculated on the five appropriate Grade 12 courses.

Admission to the Bachelor of Interior Design requires the following specific high school courses (or equivalents). Applicants in all admission categories must present:

  • English Language Arts 30-1 – minimum grade 65%
  • Mathematics 30-1 or 30-2 – minimum grade 50%

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): 86 (min. 20 in each of four sections)

IELTS (International English Language Test — Academic): 6.5 (min. 5.5 on each band)

CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language Assessment): 70 (min. 60 in each band)

MET (Michigan English Test) (formerly Michigan English Language Assessment Battery MELAB): 62 (min. 53 in all four skills)

PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English Academic): 58 (min. 55 in each area)

Cambridge English B2 First, C1 Advanced, or C2 Proficiency: 176
