Program Requirements

The Certificate in Health and Social Services Management will provide learners with an integrated base of management knowledge in the field of health and social services. It will focus on the development of skills in the day-to-day management of the provision of services in terms of both efficiency and human criteria.

Note: The external corequisite course CMSC 000 must be taken prior to taking CACC 220.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Applicants must have earned an accredited or recognized university degree (equivalent to a McGill undergraduate degree, Bachelor’s) which would serve as a basis of admission to a graduate degree program at a recognized research-intensive university in the same country. The university degree must have been completed with a minimum standing of 3.0/4.0 or the equivalent, according to grading scale on the transcript. Other English Language Requirements: 567 PBT (paper based test); MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment Battery): a mark of 85% or higher; University of Cambridge ESOL Certificate in Advanced English (CAE): a grade of “B” (Good) or higher; University of Cambridge ESOL Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): a grade of “C” (Pass) or higher; Edexcel London Test of English – Level 4 – with an overall grade of at least “Merit Pass”; Edexcel London Test of English – Level 5 – with an overall grade of at least “Pass”; McGill Certificate of Proficiency in English or McGill Certificate of Proficiency – English for Professional Communication: Certificate of Proficiency awarded.

For international students

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum CGPA of 3.0/4.0 or 3.2/4.0 in the last two years of fulltime academic studies in addition to one of the following:

Three years of recent work experience in administrative, research or clinical
positions in a health related environment. A CV and two reference letters must be
provided.

OR

Hold a Certificate in Health and Social Services Management.

English Language Scores:

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): iBT (internet-based test): minimum acceptable score of 90 overall (with a minimum individual component score of 21 in each of the four components, i.e., reading, writing, listening, and speaking).

IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Academic Versions: A band score of 6.5 or better; individual component scores must be 6.0 or better. Regular Academic and UKVI Academic versions are both accepted.

Pearson Test of English - Academic: Overall score of 65 or better; individual component scores of 60 or better. Application Deadlines: For fall: March 1; for winter: July 1 and for spring/summer: November 1.
