What will I learn?

This program prepares students for immediate entry into all social service sectors, as well as for further education in Social Work and other helping professions. Program participation and employment in the social services field require commitments of physical and emotional energies. Students move through the program together as a cohort. All core Social Service Worker courses are taught by program faculty. This provides a supportive, experiential-learning environment and a personal, professional network both during the program and after its completion.To receive the Diploma in Social Service Worker (Co-ordinated), students must successfully complete the Certificate in Social Service Worker and a minimum 30 credits including a minimum 24 credits of university-transferable courses that have science, social science, or humanities attributes, and six credits of any course eligible to be used towards a Langara College credential.

Entry requirements

For international students

Students must have a BC Grade 12 Graduation (or equivalent).

Additional Requirements

A minimum 'C' grade in three credits of university-transferable courses.

English Language Requirements

A minimum 70% in English First Peoples 12, English Studies 12, or Literary Studies 12;
Langara English Test (LET) with a score of 3;
An 'S' grade in ENGL 1107 or 1110; or a minimum 'C' grade in ENGL 1120;
A minimum 'C-' grade in an English (Post-Secondary Transfer) course;
IB English A (HL or SL) or IB English Literature and Performance (SL) with a score of 3;
AP English Literature and Composition or AP English Language and Composition with a score of 2; or
A minimum 'C' grade in GCSE O-Level English, GCSE English Language B.
