What will I learn?

The program provides a specialization in Applied Mathematics with the engineering background knowledge required for work with engineers and scientists on problems that require a combination of engineering insight and rigorous mathematical analysis. It also prepares the student for work on engineering problems in research centers and industry. The program is designed for students who have already completed an undergraduate program in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or Engineering.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Applicants must have, First-class thesis Master's degree or its equivalent. Minimum GPA of 3.3 in the last 60 credit hours of study. Degree granted by university of recognized standing. Most candidates for admission to a doctoral program possess a Master's degree. Direct entry to some programs is possible for those with exceptional academic standing. English language requirement: Internet-based TOEFL (Academic iBT): 100; IELTS: 7.5.

For international students

Applicants must have,

  • First-class thesis Master’s degree or its equivalent
  • Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (B average) in the last 60 credit hours of study
  • Degree granted by university of recognized standing
  • Most candidates for admission to a doctoral program possess a Master's Degree. Direct entry to some programs is possible for those with exceptional academic standing

English language requirement:

  • Internet-based TOEFL (Academic iBT): 92
  • MELAB: 85
  • IELTS: 7
  • CAEL: 70 with no band score lower than 60
  • Dalhousie College of Continuing Education (CCE): A-
  • Pearson English Test PTE Academic: overall score of 65 and nothing below 54

The application deadline for September admission is Apr 01, January admission is August 31 and May admission is December 31.
