What will I learn?

Civil Engineering graduates can be found in responsible engineering and administrative positions in industry and government. Some become consultants in planning, design or construction of engineering projects or in specialized fields where the application of research to the solution of practical problems is important. The professional practice of a Civil Engineer includes the conception, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of private and public projects.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

The Graduate Admission Committee for IDS accepts students who have a minimum of A- (GPA 3.7) average or higher over their last two years of full-time study in a relevant degree program, preferably an honours degree. English language requirement: Internet-based TOEFL (Academic iBT): 92; MELAB: 85; IELTS: 7; CAEL: 70 with no band score lower than 60; Dalhousie College of Continuing Education (CCE): A-; Pearson English Test PTE Academic: overall score of 65 and nothing below 54.

For international students

Applicants must have,

  • Four-year Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (B average) in the last 60 credit hours of study
  • Degree granted by university of recognized standing

English language requirement:

The application deadline for September admission is Apr 01, January admission is August 31 and May admission is December 31.
