What will I learn?

WHY PRE-PROFESSIONAL?

Whether your interests are in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or pharmacy, TWU can provide you with a program of courses and an educational experience, that will prepare you well.

In addition to the major programs, students may study in various pre-professional programs including:

Pre-Pharmacy:

Our Pre-Pharmacy program acts as a well-rounded preparation for pharmaceutical studies. You will take a set of required science courses—like cell biology, biochemistry, and organic chemistry—needed for entry into the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of British Columbia.

Normally two years of study are required for admission to pharmacy. Admission to the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of British Columbia, for example, requires:

BIOL 113, 114 (or BIOL 103, 104, and 105), 223 or 371, 333, 384

CHEM 111, 112 (or CHEM 103, 104 or 103, 112), 221, 222 ENGL 103, 104

MATH 123, 124, 102 HUM or SS 6 sem. hrs.

plus sufficient electives to complete 60 sem. Hrs

Entry requirements

For international students

Students must have standing in five subjects of which at least two must be taken at the Advanced level.

The following equivalents will be considered:

School Certificate: same as GCE with at least two passes at the principal level of the Higher School Certificate.

Certificate of matriculation from recognized universities.

International Baccalaureate with at least two subjects at the higher level.

Other countries: write or email the Admissions Office for information.

Applicants must demonstrate English Language Proficiency in both oral and written academic English:

TOEFL (Test of English Foreign Language Internet-Based Test): Overall Score: 88 with a minimum score of 21 in each of the four areas and a TWE of at least 5.

IELTS (International English Language Testing System (Academic)): Overall score: 6.5 with 6.0 on Writing Band

CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language Assessment): Overall score: 70

Application deadline: Fall - Apply by January 15 (Early Admission); Spring - Apply by November 15 (Regular Admission)
