What will I learn?

In this program, youll explore the interconnectedness of worldwide markets and acquire and cultivate the economic skills necessary to make strategic decisions from an informed global perspective. You can participate in local or international work placements, case studies, advanced analysis and computer simulations, and receive specialized training in economics, finance, mathematics and statistics, and will complete a required internship/co-op in a professional environment. Youll graduate ready to provide advice and generate solutions in business, finance and government.The UTP Stage II in International Economics and Finance is a combination of required courses and electives, designed to meet the curriculum requirements of the major program. Below is a sample schedule of courses you might take during the UTP. Upon successful completion of the UTP Stage II - International Economics and Finance, including achieving a 2.67 CGPA you will transfer into the International Economics and Finance program at Ryerson University with 10.0 credits (one year) toward your degree. Once you have progressed to Ryerson, you will continue your studies with courses in mathematics for economics, academic research and writing and second year International Economics and Finance courses.

Entry requirements

For international students

The minimum age requirement at TMUIC is 17 years old. Students must turn 17 by the last day of their first semester to be admitted.

Entry into UTP Stage II generally requires the successful completion of Year 12 of secondary school or its equivalent with overall and individual subject requirements depending on program.

Mathematics requirements

The completion of secondary school mathematics (or equivalent) at an acceptable.

GCE A Levels - Two (2) A Levels with final grades of 1 C and 1 D grades in 2 academic subjects. Mathematics with a grade of D required at the GCSE/IGCSE/O Level or A Level.

International Baccalaureate - International Baccalaureate diploma with a total score of 24, and grade of 3 in mathematics.

IELTS - IELTS 5.5 with no band lower than 5.0; TOEFL iBT - TOEFL overall 69; Cambridge English - B2 First or C1 Advanced with a minimum score of 162 with no grade lower than 154; Duolingo – 95; EIKEN Japan - EIKEN Japan: Pre-1; GCSE/'O' Level English Language - GCE 'O' Levels: C; HKDSE - HKDSE English Level 3; International Baccalaureate (IB) English - IB English A or English Higher Level (HL) 4; Pearson Test of English (PTE) - PTE overall 46, no band below 42; Pearson Versant English Test (PVT) - PVT overall 50; and SPM English (1119) - SPM English (1119) 4B.

For Integrated Entry:

IELTS - IELTS 5.0 with no band lower than 4.5; TOEFL iBT - TOEFL overall 60; Cambridge English - B2 First with a minimum score of 154 with no grade lower than 147; Duolingo – 85; EIKEN Japan - EIKEN Japan: 2A; GCSE/'O' Level English Language - GCE 'O' Levels: D; HKDSE - HKDSE English Level 2; International Baccalaureate (IB) English - IB English A or English B Higher Level (HL) 3; Pearson Test of English (PTE) - PTE overall 38, no band below 34; Pearson Versant English Test (PVT) - PVT overall 46; and SPM English (1119) - SPM English (1119) 6C.
