What will I learn?

This interdisciplinary and research-oriented program focuses on providing training on the properties, the production processes, and the manifold applications of enzymes and microorganisms in the food industry.

We will train you in biochemical methods, including the purification, characterization and immobilization of enzymes, enzyme kinetics, gene expression, and the mutagenesis of recombinant enzymes. Training in microbiology provides skills on dealing with pathogens in food production.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

To master program can only be granted to those who 1. A minimum of three years of study with a minimum of 180 credits in Part II of this Statute completed designated closer degree program at a German or foreign university or equivalent has, 2. Good command of English (at least level B2 of the Common European Framework) has that - if it is not the native language of the applicant / the applicant - are usually demonstrated by a language test or other evidence referred to Paragraph 2, 3. Good German language skills (at least level B1 of the European CFR). Other English language proficiency: Cambridge EFL Certificate of Advanced English, Cambridge Business English Certificate BEC Higher, London Chamber of Commerce Level 3, TOEIC 750 points, TELC B2 (at least “good”), Trinity Certificate / ISE III, European level B2, UNIcert II (at least “good”), ALTE Level 4.

For international students

Bachelor’s degree with a profile in the natural sciences or engineering (180 ECTS). Proof of language proficiency in UNIcert II certificate (minimum grade good) is required.
