What will I learn?

This programme develops professional media personnel, journalists in particular, who are at the forefront of professional and technical developemnts in their area of specialisation.

Students develop a stong foundation in communication, research and analytical skills. Knowledge and in-depth understanding of mass communication theory is also emphasised. Through the programme, students acquire a mature understanding of cultural issues and public policies within the Malaysian environment and global context.

Students are also introduced to the fundamentals of advertising such as copywriting and media planning. Students are exposed to practical training in the industry. This is achieved by placing students under a industrial training programme during their second year of study.

For students from United States

Entry with Standard Qualifications: UTAR welcomes applicants with any of the following qualifications for entry to Bachelor's Honours Degree Programme: Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM); Unified Examination Certificate (UEC); A-Levels; South Australian Matriculation (SAM); Canadian Pre-University (CPU). Entry with Other Qualifications: Applicants with qualifications other than those described above, for example, a Diploma from a college/institution/polytechnic may also apply for admission to UTAR programmes. English Language Requirements: International English Language Testing System ( IELTS )-5.0; Paper-based TOEFL - 410; Internet-based Testing (iBT) - new TOEFL - 34; SPM English Language / O-level English Language- Credit; MUET - Band 3; UEC English Language - Grade B; Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)- B1.

For international students

Students must have A-Level with 2-3 passes in the relevant subjects or high school leaving examination equivalent with 5 passes.

They also must have the following minimum score are as follows:
