At UCSI University, we believe that creativity, curiosity and strong intellectual grounding are fundamental aspects of an architectural education. As students, you will thrive as you develop a sense of both breadth and depth through courses infused with market-driven software. These courses, from building construction and technology to the history of architecture, will equip you with creative design and practical skills. You will also benefit from yearly visits to architectural sites in Asia including Bali, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, Korea, Tokyo and Beijing, for example. As a graduate, you will leave with a desire to make a positive contribution to the lives of people and the environments in which they live.
Advantages
Architecture is an art form - the learning of which requires professional practice, personal artistic development and technical knowledge of a building. The constant dialogue between society and the architect is what produces architecture - as a product and as a discipline.
The School of Architecture and Built Environment understands that all those who study and work in the field of architecture need a framework for aesthetics and a functional appreciation for buildings and context. This can only be achieved via a thorough grounding in the design process, building sciences and technologies allied to an understanding of the important social, cultural, artistic, and historical factors which influence architecture. This philosophy underpins every teaching and research programme delivered at the School.
The architecture programme develops both academic understanding and practical skills required for careers in the professional field. Graduates will be equipped for careers in the broad field of design in the built environment sector.
Career Opportunities
Graduates who wish to enter the workforce at this level are equipped for careers in the broad field of design in the built environment. Scope of work varies from an Assistant Architect, a Project Manager, an Interior Designer, Design Consultant, Project Executive, Design Research Assistant Free lance Designer, to an Academic Tutor. Graduates may also venture into other fields of expertise such as Furniture Design, Lighting Design, Theme Park Design, Retail Design, Commercial Design, Hospitality Design, Healthcare Design, Corporate Office Design, Stage Design, Exhibit Design, Film & Television Set Design, Environmental Design, Museum Design, Residential Design and Graphic Design. The career opportunities in this field have a good record of graduate employment. Opportunities also exist in the other areas, including marketing, promotion, facility management and development.
