What will I learn?

The Master of Clinical Dentistry programme offered is a clinical coursework programme in which the research component comprises less than thirty (30) percent of the whole programme of study.

This programme shall consist of THREE parts:

a) Part I: comprising instruction in Basic Medical Sciences subjects over a period of six (6) months.

b) Part II over a period of thirty (30) months comprising of:

General Dentistry

Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Research Methodology and Biostatistics

Training in specialty

Research component in the specialty option leading to the submission of a research report

c) Part III comprising of a clinical attachment in the specialty option, in the Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Malaya or clinical training centre recognised by the University over a period of twelve (12) months.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Preference will be given to applicants having a Bachelor’s Degree with CGPA 3.0 and above or its equivalent. A band 5.5 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) (Academic); or A score of 550 paper based total, a score of 213 for computer-based total or a score of 80 for internet-based total for Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

For international students

Applicants must have a bachelor's degree or an equivalent degree in dentistry and have at least two years post registration clinical experience in dentistry.

They also must have

  • Obtain a score of 550 for a total based on the paper, a score of 213 for a total based on the computer or a score of 80 for a total based on the internet for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL); OR
  • Obtain a Band 6 for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
