What will I learn?

This programme is designed to prepare professionals with a comprehensive approach towards monitoring, controlling and managing environmental waste resources systemically in line with future visions of the country. It encompasses topics related to various kinds of environmental pollution such as water and wastewater, land, solid, sound and air pollution. Emphasis on health and industrial safety aspects will also be discussed.

Programme details

Students enrolling under this programme must fulfill 41 credits of course work to graduate. The credit distributions for compulsory courses, elective courses and dissertation are as follows:

Compulsory Courses 6 credits

Dissertation 10 credits

Entry requirements

For students from United States

The applicant should possess a Bachelor’s degree (with honours) in a relevant field with a minimum CGPA of 3.000, or the applicant without sufficient academic qualification can be admitted into the programme subject to any other requirement specified by the Faculty/Institute. An applicant from a local public university who is in the final semester of his undergraduate study programme may be considered for provisional admission provided his current CGPA or its equivalent satisfies the graduate programme admission requirements. English Language Requirements: International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) Band 6.0; Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL), Paper Based - 550; 400 for Band 4.0 only for Malay language, Arabic, Chinese Literature, internet-based test (IBT)- 79-80.

For international students

The minimum requirement to enroll in this program is as follow:

a) Bachelor in the field of Engineering or Engineering Technology with a CGPA of 2.750/ Second Class

Lower; or

b) Bachelor in the field of Engineering or Engineering Technology with a CGPA of 2.500/Second Class

Lower with at least three (3) years of working experience in the field of study that is being applied for; or

c) Bachelor in any related field of Science or Technology with a CGPA of 3.000/Second Class Upper; or

d) Bachelor in any related field of Science or Technology with a CGPA of 2.750/ Second Class Lower with at least three (3) years of working experience in the field of study that is being applied for ; or

e) A qualification equivalent to a Bachelor's degree recognized by the professional bodies and MQA

For applicants with one of the following

550 for the TOEFL Paper-based Test (Academic Version); or

Band 6.0 for IELTS (Academic Training); or

79-80 for TOEFL Internet-based Test (Academic Version); or

Level 109 for CIEP at ELS Language Centre; or

Band 4.0 for IELTS (Academic Training) or 400 for the TOEFL Paper-based Test (Academic Version) only for Malay Language Studies, Arabic, Chinese Literature programme or any other programmes that allow a thesis to be written in the language of instruction; or

Any English Language Test which is equivalent to B2 in Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
