Introduction
The Master of Information Security is a 40 credits postgraduate program by course work at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). It offers an opportunity for advanced studies and career development in the field of information security.
Programme Objectives (PO)
The objectives of the programme are to:
a. produce professionals with advanced knowledge, highly skilled, versatile and equipped with competitive advantage in the field of information security as a catalyst to research, development and innovation to fulfill the current prospects;
b. produce professional human capital whom are sensitive to the ever changing demands of information security environment as well as skilled in solving problems creatively, innovatively and ethically;
c. build professional cooperative networks with local and global organizations and communities in dealing with issues and problems in information security.
Learning Outcomes (LO)
At the end of the programme, graduates should be able to:
a. master knowledge and demonstrate understanding of essential facts, concepts, principles and theories in information security;
b. master comprehensive technical/practical/psychomotor skills to apply analysis techniques qualitatively and quantitatively, as well as systematic and analytical in the context of solving problems related to information security;
c. identify, analyze and formulate problems related to information security and provide creative, innovative and effective solutions;
d. display effective written and oral communication skills with professionals and communities;
e. skillfully work in a team effectively and have social accountability;
f. demonstrate professionalism, ethical attitude with values and humane responsibility in handling information securely;
g. manage information efficiently and securely as well as appreciate the necessity of information security; and
h. realize and demonstrate effective leadership characteristics and responsibilities in leading teams involved in the information security discipline.

An applicant should have a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or its equivalent with a CGPA of at least 3.00 from UPM or other universities recognised by UPM, or
Applicants with a CGPA between 2.50 to 2.99 may be considered if they have at least one (1) year of working experience in the related field.
For applicants with one of the following
550 for the TOEFL Paper-based Test (Academic Version); or
Band 6.0 for IELTS (Academic Training); or
79-80 for TOEFL Internet-based Test (Academic Version); or
Level 109 for CIEP at ELS Language Centre; or
Band 4.0 for IELTS (Academic Training) or 400 for the TOEFL Paper-based Test (Academic Version) only for Malay Language Studies, Arabic, Chinese Literature programme or any other programmes that allow a thesis to be written in the language of instruction; or
Any English Language Test which is equivalent to B2 in Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
