Entry requirements

For students from United States

To be admitted to a Master‘s programme, applicants will need to have completed a recognized Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and to have obtained a better than average cumulative grade point average (CGPA). Minimum Requirements: A Bachelor’s Degree (Hons.) or its equivalent in the related field. English Language Requirements: Students must obtain: TOEFL score of 500 (PBT), 173 (CBT) or 60 (IBT) and above or IELTS Band 5.0 - 6.5 and above or Pass in any equivalent English proficiency test approved and recognized by the University of Malaya.

For international students

Applicants for the LLM programmes at the University of Malaya must satisfy the following requirements: a Bachelor of Laws with honours degree with CGPA of 3.0 and above or its equivalent; or a Bachelor of Laws with honours degree with CGPA from 2.70 to 2.99 or its equivalent and one of the following criteria: i) relevant work experience; ii) publication in the relevant field; iii) applicant is a scholarship holder; iv) applicant is a University of Malaya graduate. A Bachelor of Laws with honours degree with CGPA from 2.50 to 2.69 and two of the following criteria: i) relevant work experience; ii) publication in the relevant field; iii) applicant is a scholarship holder; iv) applicant is a University of Malaya graduate.

They must have obtained

TOEFL – score 550; IBT score of 80 or

IELTS (Academic) – band 6.0; or

Pass English Language course offered by University of Malaya
