What will I learn?

The Master of Medical Science by research introduces students to a broad range of research areas in medical sciences. It is designed to expand their knowledge and understanding of scientific concepts consistent with recent advances in biomedical research. The programme will guide the students towards better understanding of medical sciences, be proficient in analytical and problem solving. It will provide the graduates with skills for future employment and career opportunities in medical research health related teaching and consultancy.

The objectives of this program are:

  • To stimulate and sustain the culture of research in order to improve human health.
  • To produce graduates with effective communication skills and leadership qualities to support their roles in the industries.

The course is research-based, with an element of compulsory courses. The thesis must be a substantial work based on research which showing a sound knowledge of the subject. The following are the research areas:

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with minimum CGPA of 2.75 from any IHL as approved by the Senate of UniKL or Bachelor’s degree with CGPA of 2.50 and a working experience of at least 2 years in a related field. English Language requirements: They should also satisfy the following TOEFL / IELTS requirements: IELTS: 5.5 - 6.0; TOEFL: 65-79 (IBT); TOEFL score of 525-550 (paper based test), 197-213 (computer based test) and students who have attained the above test of proficiency in English are exempted from taking any English Placement Test (EPT) / English Preparatory Programs (EPP) courses.

For international students

Bachelor’s degree in a related field with minimum CGPA of 2.75 from local or any other institutions of higher learning as approved by the Senate of UniKL; or

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related field with a CGPA between 2.50 to 2.75 is acceptable for admission depends on rigorous internal assessment; or

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with CGPA less than 2.50, with at least 5 years relevant working experience is acceptable for admission.

IELTS 5.0-6.5 or equivalent.
