OVERVIEW

The Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Faculty of Built Environment, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia invites you to study for the Master of Science in urban and regional planning. This full taught course covers all the core spatial planning subjects that are important to planning practice, research, technical and soft skill required to be a competent and innovative town and country planner. Students are taught to understand and appreciate social, economic and political processes that shape town and country, and ways in which public policy can improve the quality of life. Ideas and concepts such as sustainability, urban governance, and regional economic development are also being covered in the course.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Applicants must have a bachelor degree with good honours from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia or any other institution of higher learning recognised by the Senate; or other qualifications equivalent to a bachelor degree and experience in the related field recognized by the senate. English Language Requirements: IELTS ? Band 6.0; TOEFL ? 550; TOEFL (IBT) ? 79ELS CIEP LEVEL 108 & 109.

For international students

A Bachelor’s Degree with good honors from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia or any other institution of higher learning recognized by the Senate; or

A qualification equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree and experience in the relevant field recognized by the Senate.

Applicant must fulfill one of the options below:

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): The minimum scores of 550 or TOEFL IBT 79

International English Language Testing System (IELTS): The minimum scores of 6.0

ELS Certified Intensive English Programme (CIEP): Completion of ELS Certified Intensive English Programme (CIEP) Level 107 or higher

Common European Framework of Reference for Language (CEFR): The minimum scale of B2
