Objectives of faculty

To enhance the multi-disciplinary research activities in selected focus areas through cutting edge and knowledge intensive research taking into account the high value chain aspects.

To carry out research based on problem-solving for income generation and wealth creation.

To be a national and internationally recognized research centre of excellence in new Tropical Agriculture and Food Security.

To offer postgraduate training programs for the advancement of human capital.

This field covered the food chain systems including production, processing, distributing, and consuming and also, relationship with food security and climate change mitigation, towards a safe and healthy food in future.

This field also include principle, dynamic and innovation development, effects of pollution and climate change and also ecosystem management. Emphasis on the climate change issue, sustainable agriculture development, renewable and undeniable resources, and also environment law and ethics.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

The applicant should possess: a Master Degree (with coursework) in a relevant field with a minimum grade average of B, or a Master Degree with thesis in a relevant field, or an outstanding Bachelor’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.750 (such an applicant may apply direct admission even without a Master Degree). Admission into the programme is subject to any other requirement specified by the Faculty/Institute. An applicant from a local public university who is in the final semester of his undergraduate study programme may be considered for provisional admission provided his current CGPA or its equivalent satisfies the graduate programme admission requirements. English Language Requirements: International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) Band 6.0; Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL), Paper Based - 550; 400 for Band 4.0 only for Malay language, Arabic, Chinese Literature, internet-based test (IBT)- 79-80.

For international students

Students must have a master's degree from universities recognized by UPM in related field of sciences field such as agriculture, animal husbandry, veterinary science, food science, biotechnology, agriculture mechanization, with CGPA of 3.00 and above or equivalent.

For applicants with one of the following

550 for the TOEFL Paper-based Test (Academic Version); or

Band 6.0 for IELTS (Academic Training); or

79-80 for TOEFL Internet-based Test (Academic Version); or

Level 109 for CIEP at ELS Language Centre; or

Any English Language Test which is equivalent to B2 in Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
