Master's specialisation Innovation and Entrepreneurship: something for you?

This specialisation focuses on innovation and entrepreneurship beyond organisational borders.
You will learn about the processes to identify ideas for innovation, manage innovation and business development projects, develop a business plan or analyse business models and strategic scenarios.
This Master's takes a broad, multidisciplinary view, examining the interactions of firms within the context of their business ecosystems.

In the Master's specialisation in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, you will learn to understand how organisations can grow through innovation processes and what kind of people are needed in the company to accomplish this. It enables you to understand the challenges that innovative entrepreneurs face in their businesses, whether a start-up, large company or SME. It deals with the commercialisation of new ideas, high-tech innovations, business development and tapping into new markets. You'll learn how an entrepreneurial orientation helps companies to position themselves in a business ecosystem. We will help you develop a creative mind-set and innovative and entrepreneurial capabilities.

The Master’s specialisation in Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Graduates from the Master's specialisation Innovation and Entrepreneurship are academically well trained, and practice-minded young professionals who are qualified for positions in a broad range of business functions. Students that have completed this specialisation will have acquired the knowledge, skills and competencies that enable them to act as innovators, innovation managers, and entrepreneurs. This means you could be ready to launch your own company or be an agent of change within an existing firm as a business development manager, product manager or innovation manager. You'll acquire skills to identify and structure ideas for innovation and business development and organise their implementation.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

A completed Bachelor's degree in Theology or related area; A proficiency in English: In order to take part in this programme, you need to have fluency in both written and spoken English. Non-native speakers of English without a Dutch Bachelor's degree or VWO diploma need one of the following: A TOEFL score of ?577 (paper based) or ?90 (internet based); An IELTS score of ?6.5; Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) or Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) with a mark of C or higher.

For international students

A Bachelor’s degree in a similar (or related) field from another research university with a fair number of courses in your preferred specialisation. Your degree must be equivalent to a Dutch Research University diploma. Ideally, your Bachelor's degree should cover the following courses:

  • Organisation Theory
  • Strategy
  • Marketing
  • Human Resource Management
  • Finance
  • Statistics
  • Quantitative and Qualitative Methods
  • Bachelor’s thesis of 12 EC

All other students need one of the following certificates (All certificates may not be older than two years).

  • A TOEFL score of ≥90, with subscores not lower than 18
  • A IELTS score of ≥6.5, with subscores not lower than 6.0
  • Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) or Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) with a mark of C or higher
