The Bachelor of Applied Management programme aims to produce graduates with the personal and professional skills necessary to be successful in demanding and evolving business environments, whether locally, nationally or internationally.
This degree programme offers a blend of theoretical and practical learning, with an emphasis on applied knowledge and skill. High importance is placed on the development of the soft skills for management (such as communication, business writing, presentation, interpersonal and problem solving skills) in addition to the development of specific business knowledge and skills.

Career Opportunities:
Graduates of the Bachelor of Applied Management with an Applied Management major, will critically analyse strategic issues facing organisations, and develop and implement policies and procedures in the areas of operations, management, and financial management. They will employ reflective practices to solve problems both independently and as part of a team, and collect, critically analyse and communicate information effectively.
Graduates will be qualified to work in a range of management disciplines in both the public and private sectors, including production management, general management and project/contract management.
Qualification Pathways
Further educational opportunities for graduates may include enrolling in postgraduate study, for example the SIT Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Management, or Master of Applied Management.
Satisfactory Completion
For students to be considered to have satisfactorily completed this programme and be eligible for the awarding of the qualification Bachelor in Applied Management, Applied Management Major, they must have completed all scheduled course work requirements and assessments, successfully completed assessment requirements for all papers, and achieved a total of 360 credits as specified in the programme schedule. The timeframe for completion of this programme is ten years.

Prospective students for the programme must meet at least one of the application and selection criteria below:
School Leavers: University Entrance – NCEA Level 3. Three subjects – at Level 3, made up of: 14 credits each, in three NZQA University Entrance approved subjects, and Literacy – 10 credits at Level 2 or above, made up of five credits in reading and five credits in writing, and Numeracy – 10 credits at Level 1 or above, made up of specified achievement standards through a range of subjects, or package of all three numeracy unit standards (26623, 26626, 26627 – all three required)
Mature Applicants: Be at least 20 years of age when the programme begins, and provide evidence of aptitude or appropriate work experience. Completion of external or overseas qualification, which are considered to be the equivalent of any of the above qualifications, as approved by the Head of Faculty. Each year of study must be successfully completed before moving on to the next year of the programme.
All prerequisites must be met for individual papers.
English Language Requirements:
IELTS test - Academic score of 6 with no band score lower than 5.5
TOEFL Paper based test (pBT) - Score of 550 (with an essay score 5 TWE)
TOEFL Internet based test (iBT) - Score of 60 (with a writing score of 18)
Cambridge English Examination -B2 First or B2 First for schools or C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency with a score of 169. No less than 162 in each skill.
OET - Minimum of Grade C or 200 in all sub-tests
NZCEL - a) Expiring: Level 4 (Academic) b) Current: Level 4 (Academic)
Pearson Test of English (Academic) - PTE (Academic) score of 50 with no band score lower than 42
Language Cert - C1 Expert International ESOL Written (LRW) PASS with no less than 25/50 in each skill and Spoken (S) PASS
