Practical work

You'll need to complete Practical work for both majors (urban and rural).

Urban Major

The Urban major requires you to complete 12 weeks Practical work. This must include six consecutive weeks to be carried out with one employer.

Rural Major

The Rural major requires an additional 18 weeks Practical work experience in Primary Production and Allied Industries.

Entry requirements

For international students

University Entrance through NCEA or an approved, equivalent qualification.

Recommended preparation

  • Accounting

  • Maori Studies
  • Maths / Statistics;

International qualifications

  • GCE ‘A’ Levels (taken in countries other than the UK) - A minimum of 3 results with at least 1 grade at Level C or above. (General Studies is not to be used as one of the results.)
  • Cambridge Pre-U - 3 principal subjects, a GPR and evidence of numeracy
  • Advanced Placement International Diploma (APID) - At least 4 subjects with grades 3 or higher
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) - The diploma must be completed with a minimum of 24 points

English Language Requirements

  • IELTS academic score of 6.0 overall, with no individual component less than 5.5
  • TOEFL (iBT) overall score of 60 (with at least 18 in writing)
  • Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) and First (FCE) overall score of 169, with no individual component less than 162
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic) overall score of 50 with no communicative skills score less than 42
  • Lincoln University English Language LU EL 65%.
  • NZ Certificates in English Language (NZCEL) - Level 4 (Academic Endorsement)
