What will I learn?

Develop knowledge in a specialised science discipline at undergraduate level or prepare yourself for further study to become a chiropractor.

The Diploma in Applied Science has two pathways:

Standard diploma
Pre-Chiropractic pathway

Career opportunities
Standard diploma

Graduates with this broad foundation in science are prepared for careers in science and laboratory work in a variety of industries. You can also progress to a higher level science qualification.

Pre-chiropractic pathway

This pathway prepares you for entry into chiropractic college and becoming a registered chiropractor.

Entry requirements

For international students

All applicants need to meet AUT’s minimum entry requirements qualification equivalent to New Zealand year 12.

NCEA: 48 level 2 credits including eight level 2 credits in any one subject from Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Space Science, Physics, Science
CIE: 60 points on the UCAS Tariff, including any one subject similar to the NCEA subjects listed above.

Anaesthetic Technology: Letter of confirmation from Training Hospital. Applicants must be capable of meeting Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act (HPCA Act) requirements including police clearance.

Pre-Chiropractic: Letter of Intention to NZCC from the New Zealand College of Chiropractic.

English Language requirements:

IELTS (Academic) 5.5 overall with all bands 5.0 or higher; or equivalent; Certificate in English for Academic Study (CertEAS) with C/C+ grade; TOEFL iBT score of 70; AUT Academic English with C+ grade; CAE minimum overall score of 162; PTE minimum overall score of 42.
