What will I learn?

Candidates for the Foundation Certificate (International) shall follow a flexible programme of study, which shall consist of courses totalling at least 120 credits, comprising:

(a) the core courses listed in Schedule A for the Foundation Certificate (International) schedule; and

(b) courses selected for one pathway as listed in Schedule B for the Foundation Certificate (International);

and including:

(c) attending contact workshops, block courses, field trips, studios, workshops, tutorials, and laboratories as required

SPECIALISATIONS

3. The Foundation Certificate (International) is awarded without specialisation.

COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS

4. A candidate's programme of study may not normally exceed four academic years from date of first enrolment in a course to be credited to the Foundation Certificate (International).

5. Candidates may be graduated when they meet the Admission, Qualification and Academic requirements within the prescribed timeframes.

UNSATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS

6. The general Unsatisfactory Academic Progress regulations will apply.

Candidates for the Foundation Certificate (International - Accelerated) shall follow a flexible programme of study, which shall consist of courses totalling at least 60 credits, comprising:

(a) the core courses listed in Schedule A for the Foundation Certificate (International - Accelerated) schedule; and

(b) courses selected for one pathway as listed in Schedule B for the Foundation Certificate (International - Accelerated);

and including:

(c) attending Contact Workshops, block courses, field trips, studios, workshops, tutorials, and laboratories as required.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Successful completion of High School Diploma from an accredited high school, plus a minimum ACT composite score of 24 or a minimum SAT result of 1100 out of 1600 (new SAT scores) or 1650 out of 2400 (old SAT scores) (Aggregate of Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, and Mathematic scores in SAT Reasoning Tests taken from March 2016, or the Critical Reading and Mathematics scores in SAT Reasoning Tests taken prior to March 2016.). English Language Requirements: IELTS - 6.0 (no band less than 5.5); TOEFL iBT- 80 overall (min 19 in Writing); PTE Academic - 50 Overall (min 42 in communicative skills); Cambridge English - 169.

For international students

Admission to the Foundation Certificate (International) requires that the candidate will:

(a) Have completed NCEA Level 2, or equivalent; and

(b) if English is not the applicant's first language, have achieved an IELTS of 5.5 overall with no band less than 5.0, or equivalent TOEFL score, or other evidence acceptable to Academic Board.

TOEFL iBT score of 70 overall (min 17 in Writing)

PTE Academic score of 42 Overall (min 36 in communicative skills)

Cambridge English score of 162 overall and all bands 154 or better

Admission to the Foundation Certificate (International - Accelerated) requires that the candidate will:

(a) Have completed NCEA Level 3, or equivalent; and

(b) if English is not the applicant's first language, have achieved an IELTS of 6.0 overall with no band less than 5.5, or equivalent TOEFL score, or other evidence acceptable to Academic Board.

TOEFL iBT score of 80 overall (min 17 in Writing)

PTE Academic score of 50 Overall (min 36 in communicative skills)

Cambridge English score of 169 overall and all bands 154 or better
