The Master of Business is a research master’s degree that can be completed in just 18 months. Throughout your studies you develop advanced research skills, as well as a rigorous understanding of a specialist business field relevant to your interests.

Explore advanced topics in information systems strategy and governance, managing information in the digital enterprise, business analytics and project management with the Business Information Systems specialisation in the Master of Business.

You explore a topic of your interest and will be guided by research-active academics who are known as experts in their areas of interest.

The Business Information Systems department at AUT has a rich research culture and is focused on understanding the central role that various information and communication technologies play in integrating contemporary organisations and adding value through electronic business.

To graduate with a Master of Business, you must successfully complete 180 points from:

  • Specialisation papers
  • Research methods paper(s)
  • A thesis or dissertation

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Applicants must have successfully completed bachelor’s degree in the same area of study from a recognised university and a recognised English language test that meets the language requirements. English Language requirements: Minimum IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 overall with all bands 6.0 or higher; TOEFL iBT score of 90; Certificate in English for Academic Study (CertEAS) with A grade; GIE with B+ grade; CAE minimum overall score of 176; PTE minimum overall score of 58.

For international students

Completed one of the following or equivalent with a B grade average or higher in all relevant prerequisite papers in the selected subject area:

  • Bachelor of Business OR
  • Graduate Diploma in Business

Admission to the Master of Business is subject to approval by the Dean (or representative).
