What will I learn?

The Master of Management is designed for students wanting to advance their scholarly research and master their strategic management capabilities. On completion you will be prepared to take on a leadership position in a relevant management context.

You explore the different aspects that make up a leadership role, including communications, finance, strategic planning, human resources, governance and marketing – taught by a team of highly respected and internationally qualified tutors.

By mixing advanced theoretical study with highly applied, work-based learning, you engage in rigorous intellectual analysis and learn to apply new skills and techniques to existing or emerging issues in the workplace.

Your advanced level of work-integrated practice and knowledge will contribute to high-level management and performance improvement, particularly (but not exclusively) in the areas of business, health, hospitality, or information technology.

TOPICS YOU'LL COVER: Management Practice - Critical Analysis and Review, Strategic Human Resource Management, Finance for Managers, Operations Management, Change Management, Research Methodology (30 credits), Thesis (90 credits))

Plus THREE papers from the endorsement. To be awarded an endorsement, two of the three papers must be from the same endorsement.

FURTHER STUDY OPTIONS: Courses Currently Under Development at Toi Ohomai, or Offered at Other Institutions. If you have completed the 90 credit Thesis, you'll be able to progress to PhD study at Level 10.

All endorsements will be offered at the Rotorua location and Tauranga are offering no endorsement, business, and health only.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Applicants must have completed a bachelor’s degree, Bachelor’s degree with Honours, or a Postgraduate Diploma in a cognate subject recognized by Toi Ohomai; Or be able to demonstrate at least five years’ equivalent relevant practical and/or professional experience; And provide evidence of ability to complete academic and other requirements (special admission requirements). Applicants must meet the English language requirements: IELTS Academic score of 6.5 with no band score lower than 6; TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT)- Score of 79 (with a writing score of 21); Cambridge English Qualifications- C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency with a score of 176. No less than 169 in each skill; OET- Minimum of Grade C+ or 300 in all sub-tests; PTE (Academic) score of 58 with no band score lower than 50.

For international students

You must have an undergraduate degree.

IELTS Academic score of 6.5 with no band score lower than 6.0; TOEFL Internet-based Test (iBT) score of 79 (with a writing score of 21); TOEFL Paper-based test (pBT) score of 590 (with an essay score of 5.5 TWE); Cambridge English Qualifications: C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency with a score of 176. No less than 169 in each skill; OET: Minimum of Grade C+ or 300 in all sub-tests; PTE (Academic) score of 58 with no band score lower than 50.
