Kick-start your career in the viticulture industry today by learning a range of work-ready skills.

This industry-recognised programme focuses on gaining the introductory skills and experience needed to work in the viticulture industry with an emphasis on safe work practices.

You will learn practical tasks to gain an entry-level role in the viticulture industry and skills and knowledge to contribute safely and effectively in the workplace.

These include:

First aid
Safe work practises
Tractor safety
The use and regulations of agrichemicals

This qualification complements our New Zealand Certificate in Cellar Operations (Level 3) and will give you an understanding of the practices and skills involved in both viticulture and winemaking.

Further study options include:

New Zealand Certificate in Cellar Operations (Level 4)
New Zealand Certificate in Horticulture Production (Fruit Production) - Viticulture (Level 4)
Bachelor of Viticulture and Winemaking (Level 7)

Career opportunities

Career opportunities will increase towards the end of your study as the viticulture industry commences its pruning season.

Positions can be seasonal to permanent. This includes becoming a vineyard worker, vineyard assistant, or vineyard machinery operator.

Applicants must be physically able to complete the programme specific outcomes.

Please note that vineyards and vineyard contractors have drug and alcohol restriction requirements.
