This is a one year qualification in business at level 5 and provides great pathway onto Bachelor of Business Studies if you choose to continue your studies.

Outline

Get your future sorted with a business diploma from EIT. This programme is practically orientated and will provide you with the skills and knowledge for 21st century business.

This diploma is a stand-alone programme providing a firm understanding of business in the New Zealand environment along with the most valuable attributes that are required in the modern business era.

You’ll choose from six majors / strands: accounting, leadership & management, administration & technology, project management, human resource management, and marketing & sales.

Accounting, and Leadership and Management can also be used as a pathway to further study, transitioning straight to the 2nd year of the Bachelor of Business Studies.

Career Opportunities & Outcomes

The New Zealand Diploma in business is designed to produce work-ready graduates with a good understanding of the theories, practices and principles involved in business. You could find yourself working independently or as part of a team in a larger organisation. You will still need to gain practical experience in the workplace before you can expect to take on roles of responsibility.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Successful completion of a qualification equivalent to NCEA [Level 2] OR Successful completion of the NZ Certificate in Business (Accounting Support Services) [Level 4], the NZ Certificate in Business (Introduction to Small Business) [Level 3] or (Small Business) [Level 4], or the NZ Certificate in Business (Administration and Technology) [Level 3] or [Level 4]. If the applicant is 20 years or over: Evidence of relevant knowledge, skills and experience. In the latter two situations the applicant is required to participate in an enrolment interview with the purpose of verifying the evidence. Students are required to have attained an acceptable level of English language fluency in any one of the below: IELTS Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5.0; TOEFL Paper-based test (pBT) score of 550 (with an essay score of 5 TWE); TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) score of 46 (with a writing score of 20); University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations: FCE or FCE for schools with a score of 162. No less than 154 in each skill; Pearson Test of English (Academic) score of 42; City & Guilds IESOL: B2 Communicator with a score of 42; NZCEL Level 4 General.

For international students

You may already have some knowledge or skills that can be recognised as part of your intended study. This may take a number of different forms, e.g. study at a private training establishment, workplace training, other tertiary study, life experiences or voluntary work. If you think you may qualify, you may want to apply for Cross Credit or Recognition of Prior Learning.

Cross Credit is based on the equivalency of courses or qualifications. You would apply for Cross Credit if you have passed a very similar course at the same level.
