What will I learn?

Throughout the programme you develop your critical thinking, problem-solving and communication skills, and will be prepared for further postgraduate study.

This one-semester intensive programme provides you with advanced knowledge in a chosen area of language and culture, Maori development, or social sciences and public policy. You need to successfully complete 60 points from papers in the Master of Arts. You should discuss your paper choice and intended study sequence with the programme leader before enrolling in papers.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Minimum entry requirements: Must have completed a bachelor’s degree (in any discipline). English Language requirements: Minimum IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 overall with all bands 6.0 or higher; TOEFL iBT score of 90; Certificate in English for Academic Study (CertEAS) with A grade; GIE with B+ grade; CAE minimum overall score of 176; PTE minimum overall score of 58.

For international students

  • Bachelor of Arts OR
  • Graduate Diploma in Arts OR
  • Relevant professional experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree
