What will I learn?

Lincoln University's Postgraduate Certificate in Environmental Management gives students access to advanced knowledge of the theory and practice of environmental management. You will be able to synthesise a wide range of academic research in the evaluation of environmental management theory and practice - skills increasingly in demand as the world grapples with finding the balance between use of resources and the protection of the environment.

Courses

Compulsory Courses

  • ERST 601 Advanced Theory in Resource Studies
  • Plus at least 20 credits from courses with an ECOL, ERST, LWST, MAST or WATR prefix, and a maximum of 20 credits at 600-level selected from the Schedule of Courses.

The courses must form a coherent programme of study with approval from the Academic Coordinator.

Note: students who anticipate progressing to the MAppSc(EnvMgt) must take a methods course.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Applicants must have a relevant degree with B grade average in the 300 level courses and final year (full time equivalent). IELTS academic score of 6.5 overall, with no individual component less than 6.0; TOEFL (iBT) overall score of 80 (with at least 21 in writing and 18 in Speaking); Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) and First (FCE) overall score of 176, with no individual component less than 169; Pearson Test of English (Academic) overall score of 58 with no communicative score of less than 50; NZ Certificates in English Language (NZCEL) Level 5 (Academic or Professional Endorsement); Lincoln University English Language GCAE or LU EL 70%.

For international students

Applicants must have an undergraduate degree relevant to environmental management with a B- grade average in the 300 level and final year (full-time equivalent) courses.

If English is not your first language, you will need to demonstrate that your English is good enough to study successfully at university. Lincoln University recognises achievement through a limited number of recognised tests of English Language. Below are the minimum standards for entry to the programme:

  • IELTS academic score of 6.5 overall, with no individual component less than 6.0
  • TOEFL (iBT) overall score of 80 (with at least 21 in writing and 18 in Speaking)
  • Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) and First (FCE) overall score of 176, with no individual component less than 169
