What will I learn?

Overview

Are you an experienced healthcare practitioner? Are you looking for the right qualifications to further your career? Perhaps you're a practising occupational therapist, physiotherapist or nurse, for example, and would like to develop your medical career into a leadership role. This course has been designed with this in mind. The programme gives you the opportunity to specialise in one of our five pathways. These are:

Advanced Clinical Practice (Critical Care)
You’ll develop advanced assessment and reasoning skills for the treatment and rehabilitation of the critically ill patient from the intensive care unit through to the community setting.

Advanced Clinical Practice (Prevention and Rehabilitation in Long Term and Chronic Conditions)
You’ll develop advanced assessment, reasoning and research skills to deliver effective preventative and rehabilitative strategies for people living with, or at risk of, long-term and chronic conditions.

Advanced Clinical Practice (Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation)
You’ll develop advanced assessment, reasoning and research skills for the treatment and rehabilitation of MSK patients presenting within inpatient, outpatient and primary care settings.

Advanced Clinical Practice (Neurological Rehabilitation)
You’ll develop advanced assessment, reasoning and research skills for the care and rehabilitation of people living with neurological disorders.

Advanced Clinical Practice (Occupational Therapy)
You’ll develop advanced assessment, reasoning and research skills for the care and rehabilitation of people in healthcare and community settings.

At Brunel, we understand the challenges of fitting study around work and family life. This is why we have made our courses so flexible. You can study full-time, part-time or even just take one or more CPPD modules for your professional development and return to complete your course at a later date.

Following successful completion of this programme, you’ll be prepared for a leadership role in developing and improving the care and experience of service users, along with improving service provision across the range of health and care settings.

Course content

You’ll benefit from a course designed to incorporate a multidisciplinary perspective, necessary for leading in today’s global health care systems. You’ll learn a holistic approach to patient care alongside clinical leadership skills and how to use evidence-based practice and research to make informed decisions that grow your knowledge and expertise.

Careers and your future

Following successful completion of this course, you’ll be fully prepared for a leadership role as an advanced practitioner in your relevant clinical profession (e.g. nursing, occupational therapy or physiotherapy) or can move into a variety of senior positions within a range of healthcare settings.

This programme is ideal for senior clinicians, clinical leads, managers and research academics who are looking to develop and improve the care and experience of service users, along with service provision.

You can also exit with Pgcert and PgDip awards.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Students need to have Bachelors Degree. Grades may vary depending upon the course you chosen. In general, our courses ask for an English level of between IELTS 6.0 and 7.0 or equivalent. Some courses will have higher requirements (and will require you to also reach minimum sub-scores).

For international students

Must have a pre-registration degree in a relevant allied health profession with at least one year of specialist clinical work experience. English language requirements - IELTS: 7 (min 6 in all areas); Pearson: 64 (51 in all subscores); BrunELT: 70% (min 60% in all areas). TOEFL: 100 (min 20 in all areas).
