Course description

Fully accredited by the IoM3, graduates will have the underpinning knowledge for later professional registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng).

It’s a fantastic time to be a specialist in aerospace materials. Sheffield is at the heart of the UK aerospace industry. Many international aerospace companies look to the department to discover ways to improve both materials and processes for use in their products.

You’ll develop knowledge of the manufacturing, processing and properties of the metals and composite materials used in airframes and aeroengines. You’ll also be trained in the fundamentals of thermodynamics, structure and mechanical behaviour.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Students who hold a good undergraduate four year bachelor degree and high grades in relevant individual subjects from an accredited university or college in the USA will be considered for direct admission to postgraduate diploma or masters programmes. For entry to MBA students need a good four year bachelor degree from an accredited university or college in the USA and at least 3 years´ post-graduation work experience. They must be at least 25 years old by the time the programme starts. Students with a lower GPA and considerable work experience may be considered. Postgraduate applicants are required to achieve a minimum of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
