What will I learn?

Applied Clinical Research and Public Health is a research area within which you can focus your studies as part of our suite of Dentistry research programmes (MPhil, PhD). The department welcomes applications from students interested in undertaking research towards attainment of a higher degree. To meet this goal the department offers students a high level of expertise and support in a variety of research subjects. Students will join exciting research programmes such as: Adult and Child Dental Health surveys; Epidemiology and clinical effectiveness; Violence and Society; Orthodontics and 3D facial growth analysis; Endodontics; Dentine Hypersensitivity; Clinical Trials.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Students will be required to have a bachelor's degree with good grades from recognised Universities and Colleges in the United States to be considered. A minimum GPA of at least 3.0 is usually required and admissions tutors will pay special attention to key subject classes.

For international students

Students need to have either: IELTS (Academic) 6.5 (with at least 5.5 in each sub-score); at least 90 with minimum scores of 17 for writing, 17 for listening, 18 for reading and 20 for speaking in Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL) iBT; 62 with a minimum of 51 in all communicative skills in Pearson Test of English (Academic); successful completion of ISE III with a ‘pass’ in all four components or IELTS (Academic) 7.0 overall and no less than 6.0 in each sub-score; at least 100 with minimum scores of 24 for writing, 22 for listening, 24 for reading and 25 for speaking in Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL) iBT; 70 with no less than 54 in all skills in Pearson Test of English (Academic); successful completion of ISE III with at least a Merit in all components.
