What will I learn?

The Built Environment courses are designed to provide students with a high level of understanding of the design and construction and to prepare them for employment

This programme is designed to provide you with a high level of understanding of the design, function, construction and up to date statutory requirements for buildings of all classes and to prepare you for managerial employment in the construction industry. It consists of a combination of core and optional courses that provide appropriate training for employment in the field of Contracts Manager, Property Manager, Building Contractor, Project Manager and Construction Manager.

The courses have been designed to include a high level of academic and practical elements. Enrolment on the programme entitles you to become a student member of the CIOB, RICS. The programme is also recognised nationally and internationally by employers in the construction industry.

How you will learn

Teaching

Learning takes place through a combination of timetabled learning and independent study.

You can view more information about how each module is taught within our 'What you will study' section.

Seminars and workshops enable you to discuss and develop your understanding of topics covered in lectures in smaller groups. You will also be able to meet your personal tutor. Timetabled learning may fall between 9am and 9pm depending on your courses and tutorials.

Entry requirements

For international students

  • 48 UCAS Tariff points from an IT subject or relevant subject. We accept A Levels, T Levels, BTECs, Access to HE and all other qualifications with UCAS Tariff points.
  • Level 3 Extended Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment - Merit or Distinction
  • In addition, you will need: GCSE Mathematics at grade 4/C and GCSE English Language/Literature at grade 4/C.
    Equivalent qualifications may be considered.
  • Suitable applicants will be required to attend an interview.
  • Applicants will also be required to be working in relevant employment.
  • Academic/UKVI IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component (only considered if the test date has not expired).
  • TOEFL IBT(In person only) with 60 overall with no less than 8 in Reading, 7 in Listening, 16 in Speaking and 18 in Writing.

*There may be different IELTS requirements depending on your chosen course.
