What will I learn?

We welcome applications for research degrees aligned to Business, Management, Aviation and Security in each of the areas listed. Potential supervisors are shown with a summary of their areas of research expertise. You can take the MPhil as a standalone qualification or as your first step towards the PhD. When you’re moving on to PhD level we ask you to reach a specific point in your MPhil studies.

To receive an MPhil, you’ll carry out research through independent supervised study. At the end of your studies you’ll present a thesis of up to 40,000 words and take an oral examination.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Students require successful completion of a Bachelor degree with an overall pass or above from a UK NARIC-recognised institution.

For international students

To apply for the MPhil, or the MPhil with the chance to transfer to the PhD, you should have: An Honours degree of 2:1 or above in a relevant subject from a UK university, or A qualification which we recognise as being equivalent, such as an Honours degree awarded overseas. Students need to have an IELTS Academic score of 6.0 (5.5). TOEFL iBT with 72 overall score with 17 in Listening, 17 in Writing, 20 in Speaking, 18 in Reading.
