What will I learn?

Our programme will give you a grounding in the molecular and cellular biology that underpins cancer biology and research. You’ll discover how the treatment and diagnosis of cancer has advanced and how new therapies are developed, evaluated and implemented. You’ll also gain strong practical skills: you’ll take a research skills module and a three-month laboratory project.

This MSc is also available for intercalating MBBS students.

You’ll leave this programme with the clinical skills and experience necessary to pursue further academic research at PhD or MD level. This programme also provides a strong foundation if you want to work in a clinical, pharmaceutical or diagnostic setting.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Students need to have a holders of a bachelor degree, from an accredited institution, with a good grade point average (3.2 or above), majoring in a subject relevant to the degree being applied for (with the exception of conversion masters courses) will be considered for postgraduate study. This will normally be a postgraduate diploma or a taught master’s degree (usually one year in duration). Entry requirement varies from coursewise. Applicants for PhD study should preferably hold a masters degree with high marks. IELTS Academic: 6.5 overall including 6.0 in Writing and 5.5 in Reading, Listening and Speaking. TOEFL: 92 overall including 21 in Writing, 18 in Reading, 17 in Listening and 20 in Speaking. IELTS, TOEFL score vary from schools.

For international students

Students need to have a 2:1 or above at undergraduate level in a relevant subject such as Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacology, Medicine from a recognised academic institution. Applicants with a 2:2 degree will be considered on an individual basis. IELTS Academic: 7.0 overall including 6.5 in Writing and 5.5 in Reading, Listening and Speaking. TOEFL: 100 overall including 24 in Writing, 18 in Reading, 17 in Listening and 20 in Speaking.
