What will I learn?

The School of East Asian Studies at Sheffield is well known for its excellent language training. We teach Chinese from scratch, so you don’t need previous experience. And you will be taught by native speakers in small groups. This intensive teaching is balanced with modules on China’s rich culture, its political influence, and its economy. You will spend your second year at Nanjing University, one of China’s best universities.The Sheffield University Management School , where you will spend roughly half your time, is triple-accredited (by AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS) which puts it among the top one per cent of management schools in the world. It’s also one of the biggest departments in the university, with students from every part of the world, so you can expect a vibrant, multicultural atmosphere. The course is a bold first step towards a career in South East Asia. All over Europe there are great opportunities for graduates who understand the region, its languages and cultures. Our graduates work in government and diplomacy, media, the arts, and international business.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Students need to have: US High School Diploma and Advanced Placement Tests/Subject SATS; Our undergraduate entry requirements for students from the USA are as follows: A High School Diploma with a GPA of 3.0+; PLUS three Subject tests – these can be a combination of Advanced Placement Tests (APs) and/or SAT Subject Tests in relevant subjects. APs in relevant subjects with grades 4/5; SAT Subject Tests in relevant subject with a test score of 600/650*; *We can also consider excellent grades in Honors or College-level classes or ACT or SAT scores in lieu of AP or SAT subject tests on a case-by-case basis; Other Qualifications - Holders of an Undergraduate Associate Degree at a two year Community College in the USA will be considered for direct admission to the first year of undergraduate programmes; International Baccalaureate - International Baccalaureate diploma holders will be considered for direct admission to undergraduate programmes. Applicants wishing to transfer from a regular undergraduate four year bachelors degree program in the USA will be considered for the first or second year of undergraduate degree programmes. Applicants will be required to have a high overall current GPA and high grades in relevant individual subject areas. Undergraduate applicants are required to achieve a minimum of IELTS 6 or equivalent.
